Brian W. Blaesser is a member of the Real Estate Practice Group in the Boston office of Dinsmore & Shohl LLP. He practices in the areas of residential and commercial real estate development and redevelopment, leasing, economic development, land use and environmental law, planning law, condemnation law and related litigation. He represents real estate owners, investors and developers in analyzing and securing requisite land use and development approvals from local governments, and negotiating and drafting development agreements.
Mr. Blaesser has extensive experience in state and federal courts in real estate and land use litigation, He is the author of the book, Discretionary Land Use Controls: Avoiding Invitations to Abuse of Discretion (Thomson-Reuters: 24th ed. 2021), co-author of the books, Federal Land Use Law & Litigation (Thomson-Reuters: 17th ed. 2021) and Reinventing Development Regulations (Lincoln Institute of Land Policy: 2017). He is also a co-editor and an author of the book, Redevelopment: Planning, Law and Project Implementation (ABA Publishing: 2008). Mr. Blaesser has taught the Real Estate Development Course at the Columbia Business School Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate, and served as a Lecturer at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, with an appointment at the Kennedy School of Government, where he has taught courses on Land Use and Environmental Law, and Public and Private Development.
