Guniz Celen, CRE, was named recipient of The Counselors of Real Estate’s highest honor—the Landauer-White Award—during the organization’s 2017 annual convention. Ms. Celen, a developer and valuation expert, is chief executive officer and chairperson of Celen Corporate Property Valuation & Counseling Inc., Istanbul. She was recognized as a real estate trailblazer who introduced the concept of appraisal to Turkey. She worked with government officials there who ultimately established the regulations necessary to bring credibility and acceptance of real property valuation to the country and its business leaders. She is the founder of the Appraisal Association of Turkey, and is dedicated to changing lives through education. As an energetic supporter of Danussafaka (“Home of Compassion”), a residential school serving more than 1,000 orphans, Ms. Celen developed a system to manage and maximize the school’s property assets, and successfully increased scholarship funding for its students who wish to study at the university level. The award honors a real estate practitioner who has furthered the ideals of The Counselors of Real Estate—integrity, competence, community, trust, and service—and is viewed by peers as a real estate leader who has meaningful involvement in causes that better the world.
