John McMahan, CRE, is senior principal of The McMahan Group, a San Francisco management consulting firm serving the real estate industry. He is also chairman of BRE Properties, Inc,. and has been president of a mortgage REIT and served on several REIT boards. Mr. McMahan taught at the Stanford Business School for 17 years and is currently an adjunct professor at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
