Abstract: Recent estimates place the collective value of privately owned houses in the United Kingdom at £3.8 trillion. In the past 12 months, that value has increased by more than £400 billion because of soaring prices. This phenomenon is making a distinct impact on building, buying and residency patterns across the UK.
