Abstract: This article contends that price competition in real estate brokerage rates will not exist until each individual firm starts negotiating for a fee that reflects the services performed. Each firm would still maintain an incentive to acquire an inventory of listings and to cooperate since a known fee negotiated with the client had been determined in advance.
