Abstract: Here, the author examines the current state of the U.S. lodging market, providing an analysis of the current capital markets gap for new hotel development. He then explores population aging trends and their future impact on lodging demand, a five-year snapshot of such critical market indicators as occupancy, average daily rates and revenue per available room, and an overview of the current market performance of various market segments, from economy to resort.
