Abstract: A step-by-step explanation is provided of the divestiture counselor’s role. The article defines the problem through the eyes of the counselor, explains the scope of the services needed for a particular assignment, illustrates the importance of being familiar with the problem property and stresses the need for action recommendations and continued participation to revive the property.
