Stories about the death of brick and mortar retail stores have been accelerating in the news for several months. Several large retailers have closed some (or all) of their outlets. Some experts predict that retail will never bounce back, as we have known it. Others are saying it WILL, but it’s going to take vision and better understanding of what consumers want– to make retail profitable in a rapidly changing world.
If only 11.7% of retail sales occur online (U.S. Dept. of Commerce info, through 4Q 2016), is the internet really killing bricks and mortar? Is retail at its “Tipping Point”?
